Before you book
Questions travellers ask
Nineteen honest answers about the licence, the booking process, the Taj Mahal and travelling in India.
The guide and the licence
4Is Kamran Khan a government licensed tour guide?
Yes. Kamran Khan holds a pan-India tour guide licence recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. It authorises professional guiding at India's protected monuments and major cultural sites, and it is renewed periodically.
Most people offering guiding services around the Taj Mahal do not hold this licence. The card can be checked at the monument gate, and it is shown on the guide services page.
What is the difference between a licensed guide and a local guide?
A licensed guide has passed the Ministry of Tourism's training and examination, is registered, and is permitted to guide inside protected monuments. An unlicensed local guide is not, and can be removed from a site by the authorities mid-tour.
The practical difference is accountability: a licence can be checked, and it can be lost.
Do you guide personally, or send someone else?
Kamran guides personally. The person who answers your first WhatsApp message is the person who meets you in India and stays with you for every day of the itinerary, including travel between cities.
Which languages do you guide in?
English, Spanish and Hindi, all spoken by Kamran directly with no interpreter. Esta web también está en español.
Booking and payment
4How do I book a tour?
Send a WhatsApp message with your dates and roughly what you would like to see. Kamran replies personally, usually within a few hours, with a suggested itinerary. Once you are happy with it, a booking deposit holds the dates. The balance is settled in India at the end of the tour.
How far in advance should I book?
For a single day in Agra, a few days is usually enough. For the Golden Triangle or any multi-day itinerary, three to four weeks gives room to arrange transport and accommodation properly. October to March is the busy season and fills earlier.
Do the prices include monument entry tickets?
Guiding, transport and tickets are quoted separately so you can see exactly what you are paying for. Monument entry fees are set by the Archaeological Survey of India and change from time to time, so they are confirmed at the time of booking rather than published here.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Cancellations follow the terms on the cancellation and refund policy page. If plans change, message as early as you can — flights get delayed and itineraries can usually be moved rather than cancelled.
The Taj Mahal and Agra
4What is the best time to visit the Taj Mahal?
Sunrise, between October and March. The marble changes colour in the early light, temperatures are comfortable, and crowds are a fraction of what they become by mid-morning.
Is the Taj Mahal closed on any day?
Yes. The Taj Mahal is closed to tourists every Friday for prayers. It is open the other six days. If your only free day is a Friday, Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri and Mehtab Bagh are all open, and the Taj can be seen from across the river.
How long do I need in Agra?
Three to four hours covers the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort at a reasonable pace. A full day adds the Baby Taj and Mehtab Bagh at sunset. Two days lets you see Fatehpur Sikri and the old city without rushing anything.
What should I wear to the Taj Mahal?
Comfortable clothing that covers shoulders and knees is respectful and practical. Shoes must be removed or covered on the marble platform — covers are provided with your ticket. In summer, light fabric, a hat and water matter more than anything else.
The Golden Triangle
3How many days do I need for the Golden Triangle?
Four days covers Delhi, Agra and Jaipur at a workable pace. Six days lets you add Fatehpur Sikri, an unhurried second morning in Agra, and time in Jaipur beyond the two main forts. Three days is possible but leaves almost no margin for traffic or rest.
Is the Golden Triangle safe?
Yes, for the overwhelming majority of travellers. The real risks are not violent crime but overcharging, fake guides and shop commissions. Travelling with a licensed guide removes most of that, because the incentive to take you shopping is not there.
Car or train between the cities?
Train is faster and more comfortable between Delhi and Agra. Car is better for Agra to Jaipur, because it allows a stop at Fatehpur Sikri and Abhaneri on the way. Most itineraries use both.
Practical matters
4Are the tours private?
Every tour is private. Nothing is shared with another group, and the itinerary is built around your interests and your pace, whether you travel alone, as a couple, as a family or in a group.
Do you take solo female travellers?
Yes, regularly. A licensed guide, a fixed itinerary shared in advance and a phone number that is answered are the three things that make the difference. There is an itinerary built specifically for this.
Can you arrange hotels and transport?
Yes. Transport is arranged as part of every multi-day itinerary. Hotels can be booked for you or left to you — many travellers prefer to use their own points or preferred chains, which is fine.
Do you work with travel agencies and tour operators?
Yes. Ground support, white-label guiding and Spanish-speaking assistance are available to operators bringing groups into North India. Message on WhatsApp with your dates and requirements.
