My story

Born in the shadow of the Taj Mahal

I grew up in Agra, a few kilometres from the monument most people cross the world to see once. That proximity is the whole difference. I know which gate moves fastest in January and which one does not, which hour the light turns, and which of the stories told at the gate are true.

What began as curiosity about the city I lived in became a profession. I sat the Ministry of Tourism's training and examination, and was licensed as an Incredible India Tourist Guide in November 2024 — on top of more than ten years working in travel and tourism, with travellers from over forty countries.

The credential

What the licence actually means

A pan-India tourist guide licence is issued by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. It requires formal training in history, architecture, and regulations, an examination, and periodic renewal. It permits professional guiding inside protected monuments anywhere in the country.

Most people who offer to guide you around the Taj Mahal do not hold it. That is not a small distinction. An unlicensed guide can be removed from the site by the authorities halfway through your visit, and has no accountability if something goes wrong. A licence can be checked at the gate, and it can be taken away.

How I work

Private, always. Nothing is shared with another group. The itinerary bends to your interests and your pace, not to a fixed schedule.
No handovers. On multi-day routes I travel every leg with you. You will not be met by a stranger in the next city.
No shop commissions. I do not take you to emporiums for a cut. If you want to buy marble inlay or carpets, I will tell you where the honest workshops are.
You book me directly. No agency markup, and the person answering your messages is the person guiding you.

Languages

Tours run in English, Spanish and Hindi. Spanish matters more than people expect — a traveller who understands a monument in their own language experiences a different day from one who is following along at seventy per cent. There is no interpreter involved; I speak it myself.

Where I guide

Agra and the Golden Triangle are where I work most, because that is where the demand and my deepest knowledge overlap. The licence covers the whole country, so Rajasthan, Varanasi, Kerala, Ladakh and the rest are arranged on request. The full list of tours is here.
